LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

The park is made up of an extensive area of wetland, and has a variety of species including buffaloes, impalas, elands, Zebras and topi. It’s a home to a large Bird population including the rare shoebill stork.

ACCESS
Lake Mburo National Park is situated in Mbarara district. It is about 3-5 hours drive from Kampala. A 4WD vehicle is recommended to travel to the Park.

ATTRACTIONS /ACTIVITIES IN THE PARK

Game Drives:
With several tracks, a game drive exposes you to waterbucks, warthogs, zebras and Topis. Tracks include the Kazuma track through wooded grasslands, the Lakeside track with water plants viewing; Zebra track to view zebras and Kigambira loop takes you to look for duikers and Bush bucks.

Boat Trips:
A boat ride on Lake Mburo takes a maximum of 2 hours. The lake has a diversity of bird and animal species including the rare shoebill stork, fish eagle, heron, black crake, and pelicans, water bucks, Topis and hippopotami.

Salt Lick:
The salt lick which is located wooded plat-form offers a chance to see water bucks, Buffaloes, Topis and hippopotami.

Guided walks:
The nature trail offers a chance to admire nature in company of an armed guide. Rubanga Forest has over 40 species of birds including the Grey-backed cameroptera, double-toothed barbet, narina trogn, etc

Fishing:
This is a major activity on Lake Mburo. However, visitors who plan on fishing should carry their own fishing gear.
